Eryk Salvaggio (US), is among the younger artists working in the new media of internet-based art. Although his work has been noted in the New York Times, and has been chosen as an Art Forum "Hot Link," Salvaggio's current work is independently produced, financed, and hosted at salsabomb. com. He approaches his art from "Six Rules for Internet Art," which he wrote for Rhizome.org. These rules create a "back to basics" aesthetic that leaves artists free to play with the rudimentary building blocks of the world wide web, in ways that may have gone unexplored as new technologies developed. Because the web was created almost exclusively for combinations of text and image, he returns to these elements, primarily, the aesthetics of textual presentations of information.
